When you choose to give, you become part of something bigger—something that raises up artists and the arts on Orcas Island.
Help us fund programming, events, and exhibits that raise the visibility of our fine artists, poets, and writers. and inspires the next generation of artists. In 2026, we offered ROAM (curated art + literary pop-ups), All Islands Read, poetry workshops and readings, 2-day free figure drawing workshops with the world’s best figure drawing instructor, and arranged multiple opportunities and support to raise up our artists. In the past three years, we have helped local artists and arts venues earn more than $50k. We have done that with a budget of less than $4k per year, primarily through grants. Going forward, we hope to earn donations and proceeds from artists’ works and gifts from private donors to increase opportunities and resources for artists, including more free workshops, loaner equipment, and off-island presence.

Yes. You will receive a receipt from the Orcas Island Community Foundation

Your donation remains at the Community Foundation until monies are spent on arts programs, support for artists or arts events on island. Our fiscal sponsor Orcas Open Arts/Film Fest then reimburses HALO for monies spent using your donation.

We can definitely use promotional in-kind support, food for volunteers and artists during events, hotel rooms for visiting authors and artists, and gallery owners.
